Meet Ahmad

POLICORNER is written by Ahmad Elbayoumi — a journalist covering Ontario politics and policy. Chronicling Queen's Park for over three years, he's broken numerous political stories and interviewed "some of Ontario's heaviest hitters."

Ahmad is a regular on 640 Toronto and CBC Radio, where he's on air providing analysis about the province's political landscape. He's moderated major, headline political panels and conversations and has been a panelist for organizations, such as CIVIX Canada, alongside veteran political reporters.

He broke the news that Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie would enter the provincial Liberal leadership race — as well as her competitor. He revealed that former NDP captain Andrea Horwath would jump to City Hall, had the scoop that Ford government would suspend pandemic reporting in schools and expand COVID shot eligibility for youth, uncovered a survey by a star NDPer ahead of the party's leadership contest and wrote an inside story on a caucus revolt by the federal Tories that led to Erin O'Toole's ousting. There's more.

Ahmad's phone is always buzzing with Pink Palace gossip and text messages from insiders. Drop him a line at ahmad@newsbeyond.ca with your news tips and story ideas — he's all ears.
